Nuoon is a London-based South Korean composer, sound designer, and singer-songwriter whose practice centres on the exploration of timbre, sonic texture, and the intersection of contemporary classical and electronic music.
Introduced to classical music by her pianist mother from an early age, she later performed as a flautist in youth orchestras before studying popular music singing and composition at university. She is currently studying Film Music within the Electronic and Produced Music Department at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama.
Her recent work reimagines Korean musical textures through the languages of Western contemporary classical and electronic music. Treating texture as a primary compositional material, she researches new sonic materials and timbres, transforming them into distinctive musical languages that merge acoustic and electronic sound worlds.
Nuoon has created works for a wide range of ensembles and media, including orchestra, string quartet, brass trio, solo piano, electronics, and interdisciplinary collaborations. She has collaborated with organisations including The National Gallery, Barbican Centre, BIGKID Foundation, East End Women’s Museum, and The Bauhaus Company, as well as numerous filmmakers, animators, musicians, and visual artists.
